Editorial Responsibilities

Editorial Board Development and Appointment Policy

Purpose:

The Journal of Teaching Innovation and Reform (JTIR) is committed to maintaining a qualified, diverse, and internationally recognised Editorial Board that supports academic excellence, ethical publishing practices, and the continuous development of the Journal. The Editorial Board plays an essential role in providing scholarly guidance, maintaining the quality of published content, supporting the peer-review process, and enhancing the Journal's reputation within the international research community.

Editorial appointments are based on academic achievement, subject expertise, professional reputation, integrity, and a willingness to contribute actively to the Journal's editorial activities. The Journal aims to establish an Editorial Board that reflects broad international representation and diverse academic perspectives.

Editorial Structure:

Editor-in-Chief

The Editor-in-Chief provides the overall academic and strategic leadership of the Journal. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for establishing the JTIR's editorial direction, ensuring compliance with publication ethics, safeguarding editorial independence, and maintaining high standards of scholarly quality.

The Editor-in-Chief oversees the editorial process, provides guidance to members of the editorial team, makes final decisions on manuscript publication, and represents JTIR within the wider academic community.

Deputy Editor

The Deputy Editor supports the Editor-in-Chief in managing JTIR's editorial operations and contributes to the effective implementation of editorial policies and procedures.

The Deputy Editor assists with manuscript management, supports the peer-review process, helps resolve editorial matters, provides recommendations on submissions, and contributes to initiatives aimed at improving JTIR's quality, visibility, and development.

Associate Editors

Associate Editors assist in managing the peer-review process for manuscripts within their areas of expertise. They assess submissions for suitability, coordinate peer review, evaluate reviewer comments, and provide recommendations regarding editorial decisions.

Associate Editors also contribute to the academic growth of the Journal by supporting Special Issues, identifying emerging research areas, and promoting the Journal within their professional networks.

Editorial Board Members

Editorial Board members serve as academic advisers and representatives of JTIR within their respective disciplines. They contribute by reviewing manuscripts, recommending qualified reviewers, providing expert advice when required, and supporting the development of the Journal's academic scope.

Editorial Board members are encouraged to promote the Journal, recommend high-quality research contributions, suggest emerging topics for publication, support Special Issues, and contribute to maintaining the Journal's standards of research integrity and publication ethics.

All Editorial Board members are expected to maintain confidentiality, disclose potential conflicts of interest, and perform their responsibilities with fairness, professionalism, and academic integrity.

Editorial Recruitment Workflow:

JTIR follows a transparent and merit-based process for recruiting Editorial Board members. Potential candidates may be identified through their scholarly achievements, research expertise, publication record, previous reviewing or editorial experience, recommendations from existing editors or academic institutions, or recognised leadership within relevant research communities.

Each candidate is evaluated based on their academic background, expertise relevant to the Journal's scope, professional standing, and potential contribution to the Journal's development. Final appointments are approved by the Editor-in-Chief, with consultation from senior editors where appropriate.

Selection Criteria:

Editorial Board members are selected based on their demonstrated expertise, academic contributions, and commitment to supporting high-quality scholarly publishing.

The Journal considers the following factors during selection:

The Journal seeks to maintain an Editorial Board that represents a wide range of perspectives and expertise while ensuring appropriate academic balance and international representation.

Appointment and Terms of Service:

Editorial Board appointments are made by formal invitation from the Editor-in-Chief or authorised editorial representatives. Before accepting an appointment, prospective members receive information regarding their expected responsibilities, the JTIR's editorial policies, and the standards of ethical conduct expected from Editorial Board members.

Membership of the Editorial Board is an honorary and voluntary academic service unless otherwise specified. Members are expected to actively contribute to the Journal, respond to editorial requests in a timely manner, maintain confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts, and avoid conflicts of interest that may affect editorial decisions.

JTIR periodically reviews Editorial Board membership to ensure continued engagement, effective contribution, and alignment with the Journal's academic objectives. The composition of the Editorial Board may be updated periodically to reflect the evolving needs, scope, and development of the Journal.
